The Community Foundation accepts a variety of assets to fund your account including cash, stocks and bonds, ownership interests in closely-held businesses, bequests, life insurance and retirement assets. We can also help unlock the potential in other more unusual assets as well, including real estate, art, livestock…you may be amazed at the types of assets we might be able to accept to enable you to give back to your community.
Community Foundations are nonprofit, tax-exempt, publicly supported granting-making organizations. These Foundations are public charities, since they develop broad support from many unrelated donors with a wide range or charitable interest in a specific community. A Community Foundation has an independent board that is broadly representative of the public interest and it maintains a diverse grants program that is not limited in scope. In addition to making grants, these Foundations often play a leadership role in their communities, serve as a resource for grant information and broker training and technical assistance for local non-profits.
Area residents are turning to the Murray-Calloway Community Foundation to make their philanthropic giving as effective as possible. We are a public charity serving people who share a common concern--improving the quality of life in Murray-Calloway County.
Individuals, organizations, families, and businesses create permanent charitable funds that will help our community meet the challenges of changing times. The Foundation invests and administers these funds. We then use the distributions to award grants to many of the humanitarian, educational and cultural organizations in the remarkable community we call home.
